It is recomended that you clean your feeders at least once every two weeks. A suggested cleaning method is to scrub with mild soap and water. You may also choose to dip the feeder in a bath of nine parts water to one part household bleach. Make sure your feeder is dry before inserting fresh seed. It is also advisable to rake or clean under the feeder, as the decomposing hulls may harbor bacteria that could harm ground gleaning birds.
